an art form

I wish I could paint but I can't. When I try to mix colors they turn to mud and I feel frustrated. I have an idea in my head but my hands don't respond.
But when I get behind my camera I feel empowered. I see the colors and I see the possibilities in front of me. My hands and my heart finally hear each other. I can "see" what's inside of me.

A short trip

Where do you look when you meet a poppy. My eyes traveled around the translucent peachy petals and followed the trail to the center of things. An explosion of limey greens and purples. I've never met a poppy that I didn't love.

up against a wall

Wisteria is everywhere, it grows wild in the woods, climbing old exhausted trees, wrapping itself around their trunks and finding it's way to the very top. All purple and long and droopy and I never noticed it before. Now I see it everywhere. Why is that? Why do we all of a sudden become aware of what has always been there? We live inside our own universe and the woods holler out for our attention. I'm listening...

a lot a geese

The Score
Canadian Geese 5
Tully Weekes 0
She has lost this one but we still have faith that she can do better next time.
Now she is very busy over seeing the workers planting in the gardens. Lets hope they dig more holes than she does.

Another point of view

The view to the left, sailboats racing on a cool blustery evening.

The view to the right while the boats are racing.

The same view to the right just minutes after the other one.
Tully barked at the boats in a vain attempt to  catch them. I suppose they might look like geese….

an evening sky

I was enjoying the sunset through the bare bushes on the beach a week ago.
 And then I turned around.

The moon arrived barely above the tree line. It just hung there all golden and perfectly full. No reflection in the water however because the tides were dead low, maybe next month we'll get lucky.
I mean luckier, this was already lucky.

purple

Cold foggy day today so I submerged myself in my images and my music. Found this orchid image and it reminds me of a Georgia O'Keeffe, well a little bit anyway. Look closely, do you see the young bear cub filled with joy and adventure?

a word from Tully

You haven't heard from me in a long time. We moved to this new place and I have been put in charge of the geese. It's exhausting keeping an eye on them. This one pair thinks they live here but they don't.
I live here now, not them.

If mom would cut my hair I might have better luck seeing them coming. I hear them but I can't always see them. I'm also in charge of keeping track of both mom and dad and trust me that is not easy. They are all over the place and I'm just plain exhausted...

tulip time

I love photographing tulips. Especially when they have been planted on mass by someone else's front yard. I took my very early cup of coffee, pulled into their driveway and set myself up with my LL Bean  outdoor blanket, my tripod, my fanny pack with two different lens and the sun just barely touching my back and their petals. I spent an hour sitting with them and discovering their personalities. I have over
a hundred images of orangey golden tulips. When I edit them I feel like I'm sitting there all over again.

spring in my step

Looking above on a cold springtime walk.

Looking below moments later.
