almost there

I will leave tomorrow for these woods. Can't you just feel the mist on your skin and can you smell the musky sweetness of the woods? I can already and I'm not even there yet... Actually when you get this blog I will be there!!!

the woods

I'm heading for the mountains soon. I'm once again going without my computer and there will be no blog posts for the next two weeks. I'll continue to post on Instagram, the i phone fits so well in my backpack. (I may try to get another post out before I leave, I'll miss not connecting with all of you.) This is a good time to thank you for your emails to me in response to the posts. I know it's impossible to do it through the blog. I'm going to work on that! But if you want to respond you know you can just email me at weekeswork@mac.com. I will always get back to you.
This Adirondack guide boat has saved a seat for me. I can feel the warmth of the sun on the wooden seat and the smoothness of the paddle. I'm so happy to get back to where I'm meant to be...

The garden is radiating heat, and we are all wilting.

Don't do it

You wouldn't really jump on me would you? I just want to take this closeup photo of you, but please don't jump on me, it won't take but a minute. I'll be out of your way in no time but please don't jump on me.

But he did anyway...

A summer storm

Maybe it will stay north of us on Long Island Sound. We can just sit and enjoy our glass of wine in the welcome coolness of the evening.

Maybe not.
The wind is picking up and our glasses are moving off the table and bits of my hair are  standing straight up. Lighting everywhere. Maybe we should go inside.

Still wish I could be out there, I love the energy that permeates the air. I'm charged, literally.

The storm has passed and left us in awe of the power of nature. I'm wishing I could have had my camera instead of my iPhone, but I'm just glad to have been there.
Tully on the other hand was home alone and tucked in under Brad's desk. She was really happy when we got home....

red hot cardinal

This cardinal is heading for the birdbath to get relief from the heat. The others will soon follow. Personally I'm staying indoors.

Tully has a word

I have lost all control of the situation. I look over my world and no one is behaving. The sailboats continue to flap and irritate me and now if you look very carefully you will see that very very big boats have arrived. No barking or running around seems to have an impact on them. In fact they don't pay any attention to me. I'm confused. Mom just keeps calling my name over and over. I pretend that I don't hear her. I'm too busy trying to figure what to do next. Maybe I'll just go take another nap.

Look up

I am wired to look everywhere when my camera is in my hands, especially when I'm shooting nature. These beautiful backlit leaves were waiting to be discovered. I found them high up in the glass ceiling at Planting Fields greenhouse.

face to face

I had a little face time with this butterfly. It's a high key approach, another fun thing to do with my camera.

playtime

Today I have arranged a playdate with my camera. We are creating double exposures in camera.
The possibilities are endless and my imagination has just kicked in. Wanted to share before I head back out into the garden again.

my garden

I've invited them into my garden. They flutter everywhere amongst the butterfly bushes. They fly by my face as if to thank me for creating this lush environment. We make each other happy.
