last night

I had finally ended my day with my feet up, Netflix show on, Tully in my lap, glass of wine by my side. But instead I traded all of that for a race down to the beach, bare feet bruised by the rocks and broken shells, being bitten by every imaginable biting no-see-ums at low tide, and witnessing the most unbelievable sunset in weeks. It started all soft and grey and peachy and ended with a big dramatic orange and purple bang.

a midday kayak ride

This snowy egret is in full breeding plumage, quite glorious don't you think?

Check out the yellow feet.

This all happened while I was kayaking in the nook area.
Thank heavens I had my camera with me.

Can you see the tiny crab?

kayak ride

I'm a feather chaser.
I believe this one belonged to an osprey chick, or maybe a snowy egret.

not quite awake

It's a dream world inside the garden. If you let your eyes relax and soften you begin to see the less obvious, the way the colors play off each other and the shapes of the petals come in and out of focus.  I love taking naps behind my lens...

branching out

I love the songbirds, they are so busy this time of year.

the weather

Watching the storm develop was thrilling, only because we weren't in the midst of it but rather watched it from afar. The lightening strikes warned me not to get too carried away with how far to go with my camera. The birds were flying around everywhere, Tully was barking at the thunder and these geese escorted their nine chicks to safety in the nook. These geese are multiplying faster than Tully can handle. This appears to be a losing battle....
