a word or two from Tully

This is where I hang out
when it's not too hot out.

This is where I'm deep in thought
 about I'm not sure what...

Killer

The osprey platform that we put in over a year ago has been the meeting place for many in the neighborhood. That is everyone BUT the ospreys. They are intimidated by the mockingbirds who relentlessly shoo them off. However today we had Killer, our local Great Egret who you remember killed the chipmunk last summer on our lawn.

In his mating plumage he is quite content to preen and rule the roost for a short while.

He left before the mockingbirds took charge and shooed him away.
Probably off looking for chipmunks...

The bird bath

testing the water

feels good on the belly

wing flaps cooled

back feathers wet

twirl it out  and we are done.

I see me again

Reflections weave in and out of my life. A simple stone dropped in the water, a tide shift, a change of the wind and everything is different, the surface now ripe for new interpretations.

fireworks

It was a wild night on the water in Oyster Bay on the 4th of July.

My chest was pounding and my heart was full.

It was a visual overload.

But I couldn't stop thinking of sweet Tully.
She was probably under the desk in the dark waiting for it to be over.

JOY

How to beat the heat, take a dip in the bird bath

and flap your feathers...
