Your choice

We can look at our world and judge or we can look at our world and wonder.
Turkey vulture yuck, or turkey vulture interesting naked red head and beak.

Turkey vulture digging out the remains of dead stuff yuck, or turkey vulture preening in the sun.

Turkey vultures glaring at me, or two devoted parents taking care of their young.

How would you have spent your time with them?

A thief

He waited for a discarded piece of fish from the day's catch by human fishermen. But an entire red snapper slipped from the dock and what's a pelican to do but eat it!
 Happy pelican, unhappy human...

move over

Wood Stork enjoying a quiet moment in the very early morning.

But happy to move over and let others share the view.

letting go

Let it be a cocoon, this life of ours, let it unfold as we journey through it.
Let each gentle seed, one by one, open and feather into the world.
Let us reach out and touch others as we travel in the air looking for a safe place to land.
A place where we can dive deep and surround ourselves with the warmth of the earth.
A place where we can feel free to be more than we have been.

dive in

Reflection is my mantra for the next week.
So much to discover when you can look into still water.

good morning

This anhinga was preening in the glow of the early morning light.

inside out

I'm entering that part of me that sees more than I can create. I'm drawn to all the pieces around me, editing and cropping the world without my camera. It is a bit like a walking meditation. Shadows colors and compositions have pulled me on this walk as I wander with my heart. My camera follows..

It's a new year

I was hungry for this. My first image of 2019.
Happy to be here with the sunrise washing over all of us.
It felt so right to share with others this morning, normally I prefer being alone.

I created only a few images as I felt wrapped in color and only my eyes could see. I stood with my tripod and camera yet mostly just watched the light change.

The bold saturated colors soon evaporated into soft grays and lemon yellows.
I left it behind as I contemplated my own transitions for this new year.

wings up

We are off once again to sunny Florida.
Hopefully I will post more often once I'm there. Between the holidays and getting all my camera gear cleaned and checked I lost so many shooting days. I can't wait to throw that pack over my back and head to where the birds and ocean meet.

our gifts

Seize the moment as they are so fleeting.
Mockingbird took flight with his seed in a flurry of feathers and a lift to the skies.
He will settle in a quiet spot amongst the trees to savor his small meal.
And I thank him for the gifts he gives me as I live in his world.
Merry Christmas everyone.

a warm memory

How can someone so small hold such a huge space in our hearts.
If Tully had met this energetic playful lab she would have been in awe over her bravery.
But Tully was home in bed at the time so she never knew.

a word from Tully

Mom has been way too busy so I'm taking over the blog.
She has forgotten how to put her nose to every little shell and just sit and look out over the bay.
She has forgotten how to smell the good stuff.

So I'm giving you my view of the world when I'm hanging out by the water's edge.

The slippery squishy fishy smells..

I'll stay in touch with the important stuff till mom can once again wander along with me in the cold wet earth that I know she's missing.... woof
