fox tales

It was late in the day, I had been shooting the low tide mussels and stones and seaweed, totally lost in the macro world of LI Sound. I got in the car and then I saw the fox. Of course I had the wrong lens on my camera and it was starting to rain. I quickly changed lens, while softly praying that the fox would stay near me. Apparently she was also near this mother's nest.

The bird swooped and poked and relentlessly protected her babies. The fox was startled and after much back and forth with the bird she left the area and headed back out to the beach. Of course I wish I had a faster shutter speed to capture this drama but I didn't.
I love the image below, the outline of the bird on the barn tells the story to me.
