busy busy sanderlings

I love the sanderlings, they dash along the beach with their tiny legs a blur. I call them Susie birds because they remind me of a dear friend who we lost many years ago. When they are in flight the flock moves as a wave in the air, just above the surf, with their wings glittering in the sunlight. They are hard to photograph because they are so FAST.

So I wait for them to preen and spend time with themselves.

Only then can I begin to capture their tenderness.
